Hi everyone

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread."

Anatole France

Today I start my first blog of things general but more particularly of things law. Chief Justice MacLachlin gave an address about the problems the courts are facing with many unrepresented litigants. Of course, the larger problem is that many citizens simply cannot afford any legal services. It is the courts' duty to provide justice regardless of representation. Yet it does seem that the various groups now studying are largely composed of judges and lawyers who have their own self interest and may come to conclusions that will do nothing to alleviate this pressing problem. It seems to me that we need to hear from the public.
